How to fund Binance with MTN Mobile Money in Uganda
Buy USDT using UGX from your MTN or Airtel wallet via Binance P2P — no bank account needed. Updated April 2026.
Quick answer: Binance doesn't have a direct MTN button. You buy USDT through Binance P2P — find a seller who accepts MTN or Airtel Money, pay them UGX from your phone, and receive USDT in your Binance wallet within minutes. Zero Binance fees.
What is Binance P2P and why do Ugandans use it?
Binance P2P (peer-to-peer) is a marketplace inside Binance where you buy crypto directly from other people — not from Binance itself. The beauty of P2P for Ugandans is that sellers accept local payment methods including MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money.
You pay UGX from your phone, and within a few minutes receive USDT (or Bitcoin) in your Binance wallet. No bank account, no international wire, no waiting days for approval. It's how hundreds of thousands of Ugandans are using Binance right now.
Before you start — what you need
A Binance account — free to create at binance.com
Your national ID or passport for KYC verification (required for P2P)
An active MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money account with sufficient UGX balance
The Binance app (recommended) or a web browser

Open Binance → Trade → P2P TradingApp: tap the icon with three horizontal lines at the bottom → P2P. Web: hover "Trade" in the top menu → P2P
2
Select "Buy" and choose USDTUSDT (Tether) is the most popular choice — it stays at $1 value so you're not exposed to crypto volatility while deciding what to do with it
3
Filter by payment method: MTN Mobile Money or Airtel MoneyTap "All payment methods" → search MTN or Airtel → select it. Now you'll only see sellers who accept mobile money
4
Choose a seller — check their stats carefullyLook for: 200+ completed trades, 95%+ completion rate, green "verified merchant" badge if available. These sellers are reliable and fast
5
Enter the UGX amount you want to spendThe calculator shows exactly how much USDT you'll receive. Check the exchange rate — compare 2–3 sellers to find the best deal
6
Tap "Buy USDT" — the seller's mobile money details appearYou'll see their MTN or Airtel number and their name. Send the exact UGX amount shown — not more, not less
7
Send UGX via your MTN or Airtel appTransfer to the seller's mobile money number. Take a screenshot of the confirmation for your records
8
Tap "I have paid" on Binance — then wait for USDTThe seller verifies your payment and releases the USDT to your Binance wallet. Usually takes 2–10 minutes
Pro tip: use "Verified Merchant" sellers
Binance-verified merchants have gone through extra vetting and have a blue badge on their profile. They tend to respond faster and are less likely to have disputes. Filter by "Verified Merchant Only" for the safest experience, especially for larger amounts.
How much does it cost?
Binance charges zero fees on P2P transactions. The only cost is the exchange rate margin — sellers typically price their USDT slightly above the mid-market rate (usually 0.5–2%). This is still very competitive compared to money transfer services or exchange bureaux.
Example: if 1 USDT = $1 and the mid-market USD/UGX rate is 3,650, you might find sellers offering 3,600–3,620 UGX per USDT. The difference is their profit margin.
Minimum deposit amount
There is no Binance-imposed minimum. Individual sellers set their own minimums — typically between USh 20,000–100,000 (about $5–$25). Most Ugandan sellers accept trades starting from USh 36,000 (about $10). If you want to start very small, filter to sellers with a low minimum trade amount.

What to do with USDT once it's in your Binance wallet
Now that you have USDT in Binance, you have several options:
Trade crypto: Swap USDT for Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other coins on Binance Spot
Earn interest: Put USDT in Binance Simple Earn for 3–8% annual interest, paid daily
Fund Exness: Send USDT via TRC20 directly to your Exness trading account — see our Exness funding guide
Hold and resell later: USDT stays at $1 value, so you can sell it back for UGX anytime via P2P
Send to family abroad: Transfer USDT to a family member in another country who can cash out in their local currency
Frequently asked questions
No. MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money are fully supported through Binance P2P. You do not need a bank account at any point. Many Ugandan Binance users have never used a bank account with the platform.
Binance P2P has strong buyer protections. Your USDT is held in escrow by Binance before you pay — the seller cannot touch it until you confirm payment. If a seller doesn't release your USDT, you can raise a dispute and Binance will review the case. Stick to verified merchants with 95%+ completion rates to minimise risk.
Tap "Appeal" in the trade to open a dispute. Upload your mobile money payment confirmation screenshot. Binance support reviews disputes and typically resolves them within 24 hours. The USDT stays in escrow and cannot be taken by the seller during this time.
Yes — this is one of the most popular uses. You buy USDT with MTN Money in Uganda, then send the USDT to a family member's Binance account in another country. They sell it on their local P2P for their local currency. It's typically faster and cheaper than Western Union or bank transfers.
First, make sure you've filtered to "Uganda" as your region. Then tap "All payment methods" and type "MTN" in the search box. If still not showing, try clearing the app cache or using the web browser version at binance.com. MTN Mobile Money is a supported payment method for Uganda.
